REVIEW - MC Lyte: 1 of 1

Ayo, peep this, fam! Ya boy Denzel was up chillin’ real late, spinnin' some Kurious and flippin’ through that "Mob Psycho" manga (if y’all care), when it hits me—yo, didn’t Lyte just drop some new heat? Sure enough, that queen of bars came through, so it’s time I give it a listen. Now don’t get it twisted; Lyte’s my number one female emcee, hands down. Life’s been keepin’ me on lock, so I ain’t even been in that review zone. See, with Lyte, you gotta sit back, listen close. She ain’t background noise—she’s schooling. And I’m ready to catch it all. Let’s go!

1. 1 of 1 Intro – Yo, this one’s smooth. I love how she’s shoutin’ out the Almighty for where she’s at. That’s just real, man. Dope start.

2. Thank You ft. Muni Long, Mary Mary – Aight, this track is movin’ nice. Lyte's flow hittin’ perfect, and that hook's flawless and mad passionate. She’s keepin’ it real with her story, and that outro? Beautiful. Mad respect.

   Beats: 9/10
   Lyrics: 10/10
   Score: 19/20

3. Life & Luxury –
Lyte’s droppin’ pure heat here, real hard spittin’. Hook’s aight, but those effects are kinda messin’ with me. Still, that second verse? Fire. Lyte’s back like she never left.

   Beats: 8/10
   Lyrics: 10/10
   Score: 18/20

4. King King ft. Queen Latifah –
I heard this joint when it dropped a minute ago. Solid, but the subject’s kinda left-field compared to the rest. That Latifah hook got some effects on it, too, but it vibes better than before.

   Beats: 9/10
   Lyrics: 7/10
   Score: 16/20

5. Sunni Block Barbershop –
Just a skit, but a good transition to the next track…

6. To Rock the Mic – Aw man, this joint’s straight flames. Lyte goin’ hard. That hook? Pure eighties, smooth as butter. News report samples about Nipsey and Dolph really hit. That hook line—"And I shall - proceed - and continue - to rock the mic!"—that’s FIRE.

   Beats: 9/10
   Lyrics: 9/10
   Score: 18/20

7. 1-5 –
Yo, the transition here is butter. Track’s tough as nails, and the rhyme scheme? Perfect balance between complex and chill. Straight banger!

   Beats: 10/10
   Lyrics: 10/10
   Score: 20/20

8. Make a Livin' –
Another banger! Beat’s tight, lyrics are harder than concrete. Only gripe is that it’s too short. Coulda vibed with this for days.

   Beats: 10/10
   Lyrics: 10/10
   Score: 20/20

9. All Day, All Night –
This one got a nice, laid-back beat. Lyte’s flow is chill, hook’s a good look too. Not my favorite track on the album, but I’m with it.

   Beats: 8/10
   Lyrics: 8/10
   Score: 16/20

10. Lyte Ghost Lil Mama –
This joint’s got that old-school vibe, like her second album. Ghostface slid in and just destroyed his verse. Lil Mama’s here, too, holdin’ it down. Whole crew brings heat on this one.

   Beats: 8/10
   Lyrics: 9/10
   Score: 17/20

11. Kick Back Relax ft. Q-Tip –
I was hopin’ Q-Tip would spit a verse, but he’s just on the hook. Still, the track is smooth; I dig it.

   Beats: 8/10
   Lyrics: 8/10
   Score: 16/20

12. Vote 4 Change –
Another skit; perfect little break from the bars.

13. Change Your Ways ft. Stevie Wonder & Common – Love this track. It’s conscious, on point. Stevie doesn’t overshadow, and both Lyte and Common are in the zone. Solid all around.

   Beats: 8/10
   Lyrics: 9/10
   Score: 17/20

14. Woman ft. Big Daddy Kane, Raheem DeVaughn & Salt –
Another gem! Big Daddy Kane’s verse? STELLAR. Then Salt from Salt-N-Pepa comes through with fire, and Lyte closes it with a bow. Banger!

   Beats: 10/10
   Lyrics: 10/10
   Score: 20/20

15. Alright ft. Jai'len Josey –
Solid all around; strong verses, a sweet hook. Beautiful track.

   Beats: 10/10
   Lyrics: 9/10
   Score: 19/20

16. Wisdom from Easy Moe Bee –
Classic skit from a legend. Adds a lot to the album vibe.

17. Music Is ft. Joistarr – Starts smooth, then the beat drops hard. That hook is on another level. Lyte drops a funny story about meetin’ KRS and D-Nice. I'mma save it for y'all to hear when you buy the album, cause trust me, it’s special.

   Beats: 10/10
   Lyrics: 9/10
   Score: 20/20

---

Yo, hands down, this might be the illest album I heard all year. Lyte’s still spittin’ like it’s the 80s, and she’s got that balance—emotional and hard-hittin’. Best work since "Lyte as a Rock", no question.

Total: 236/280 - 84%

Get on it—stream, buy, borrow, steal it, whatever it takes. This one’s legendary.
