Kenny Mason: Angel Eyes - REVIEW

What the heck's up y'all?! It's ya boy Denzel back up in this mix again an' today we gonna be reviewin' "Angel Eyes" by a young blood callin' hisself "Kenny Mason". I ain't gonna lie, I been vibin' heavy wit' Kenny. Son dropped on of the dopest verses on Denzel Curry's KOTMS/2 album(s) n' then son had the only kinda highlight there was on that PlayThatBoiZay album, which was hot garbage by the way, word. But yo, we ain't neva reviewed anythin' from the man hisself. Let's get into it now, b...

Intuition - This startin' out wit' a skit or sumthin'. It's aight, kinda lil' long, but aight. Beat comin' in now, tight trap beat. Son's spittin' now, he kinda soundin' like an' advanced Kodak Black on this, like if Kodak didn't rap like he was gonna die or sumthin'. Son's flow on this tight like heck. The bridge kinda wack tho', I ain't gonna front, son can miss me wit' that bridge. This an aight intro track, I ain't hatin' it, but I ain't gonna be bangin' it much either.

How to Survive -
This beat's dope. The hook kinda odd tho'. First verse is dope. I ain't too big on brothas usin' vocal effects n' shit but when son drops vocal effects on the second half of that first verse, that's dope to my ears y'all. Second verse goin' harder, like son jus' gave us a lil' preview of what he can cook up. This track's pretty solid y'all.

Been Havin' - This beat soundin' like it outta some 1980s Madonna album. It kinda dope but got a lil too much fluff on it, nahmean? This track kinda seemin' a lil' off to me, seems like Afrobeats inspired or sumthin'. Not that Afrobeats is wack or sumthin', I vibes wit' a lotta of that, but I don't think rappers should be tryin' that kinda mess in rap albums. This one's jus' aight, not blowin' my mind or nothin', but the flows an' story's dope, so I'mma give son his props for that, word. That outro mumblin' jus' a whole buncha nonsense to me, I ain't wit' that.

On the Way - This one kinda dope. I like this beat. The screamin' on this beat tho'...that mess jus' plain uncalled for y'all. I'mma be honest - this whole track kinda seemin' mad pointless to me, like I ain't feelin' this one much, I ain't even knowin' why son felt like this thing shoulda gone on the album. This one gonna be a skip. I kinda didn't mention it none on the otha tracks, but each of these tracks got a skit stuck on the end.

Angel Eyes - This beat is aight. The lyrics is beatin' it tho'. Beat kinda sound like clinkin' pots wit' flutes mixed in. Kenny's killin' this tho', I think this verse gonna be one of the dopest on this album. Son's flow jus' untirin', an' coordinated. This dope to me, but for the lyrics y'all.

Everybody Knows - This one's kinda dope, but the intro soundin' like everythin' that's ever been done in trap. I like the way son's flowin' here. It's aight, he talkin' smack 'bout sum girl, but otherwise it's aight.

Relief - This intro sleepy as heck to me. The beat here soundin' like a throwaway off a Future tape. I ain't feelin' this one, makes me feel like I'm on a trip or sumthin'. Like if I took too much ganja this the kinda effect I'd be experiencin'. Skip.

Hoodrat - This a kinda dope track an' I like the way son's producer flipped this sample. It's dope to me. This is the kinda mess I was hopin' for from son, this thing FIRE!! Son's spittin' like heck, the beat's killin' it, dang this one's dope! Gave me those chills y'all get when hearin' sumthin' dope. This shit fire y'all.

Teen Gohan - This outro...nah, this ain't it. This thing soundin' like anotha of the lame-ass Ed Shereen impersonations that rappers been tryna do this year. Shit's mad corny to me, b. Why you make this ya outro son? Outro's supposed to be fire, ain't supposed to be nome of this "goin' gently into the dark night". I ain't figurin' out where this sample's from, but it soundin' like son sampled Queen or sumthin' here. Nah, this don't even fit wit' the resr of the album. Miss me wit' this, b.

Aight, let's add all this numba stuff up y'all:

All in all, this project actually well-put together except for that outro. Son's got a solid idea of how to make an album flow n' all, it's an aight tape. I ain't gonna get mad if they playin' this 'round me. Heck, I'll probably be vibin' to summa this. Where this thing fails is a lotta basic rhymin' an' bad sangin' trips. I usually don't be expectin' too much from summa these young trap rappers, but I KNOW Kenny can tear shit up when he likes, so why he gotta be all soft n' squishy on here? I don't be knowin' why really, but yo son, you gotta give us sum more of them fire raps ya gave Denzel. Plus, the skits here's anotha problem, b. None of them was too long or sumthin', but a lotta skits stapled onto tracks n' ish like that gets mad annoyin'. I could tell son was tryna do a Good Kid Maad City here, or maybe a De La Soul is Dead kinda thing, but it ain't pulled off right. If ya REALLY don't like kids actin' out scenarios, you ain't gonna like this tape, word. This tape's aight, but dang, I wish son gave us more tracks like "Hoodrat". THAT'S fire son. You onto sumthin' wit' that, word. Aight, I'm outta here till next time. Peace!!

REVIEW - Curren$y and DJ Fresh: The Tonite Show; The Sequel

Yo, yo, yo, what’s crackin', fam? It’s ya boy Denzel comin' back at y’all with another drop. Hope all my peeps out here in the States had a lit Labor Day, kickin' it with the squad and fam, you know the vibes (written on 3rd Sept.) So I wasn’t even tryna peep this tape at first, wasn't even on my radar, but then I scoped the album art on Reddit and yo, that art goes hard, word! Straight jackin' the OG cover from Kool G Rap and DJ Polo’s Road to Riches. Now, last time someone bit a cover like this, it was that 21 Savage joint with the Illmatic swipe on American Dream, and word is bond y'all, that was straight rubbish. Had me tight tryna review that weak fake gangsta mess. So this joint better pull up or it’s curtains. Road to Riches? That's a certified 10/10, word. And yo, if you ain't bumped that Kool G classic yet, stop playin' and go cop that joint. Don’t even come at me talkin’ 'bout you gonna get that ish on streaming, it ain’...

REVIEW - Polo G: Hood Poet

Aight, check it. So this joint right here, I been waitin’ on it, feel me? I ain't really vibed with Polo G like that before, but to keep it real with y'all, I only heard one track from the dude. I'm tryna see if homie got that fire. This kid got potential, I really want him to blow up, word. Maybe it’s ‘cause he got a lil’ Craig G or Warren G in his name, I dunno, but I’m rootin’ for him to make it big. The album just dropped an hour ago, so let's see what it’s hittin’ for. God's Favourite Aight, this intro’s cool. Some chick singin’, then Polo G jumpin’ in with that smooth voice. I ain’t too crazy ‘bout the moanin’ he be doin’, but now he spittin’ and it's actually hittin'. My man’s levelin' up! This joint right here is dope, beat slaps, and the lyrics ain't too shabby either. Beats - 7/10   Lyrics - 8/10   15/20 No Recruits This one starts off real soft, almost too soft. I’m hopin’ he don’t get all singy on this one. Soun...

REVIEW - YG: Just Re'd Up 3

Yo, what's good, fam? It's your boy Denzel, the top dog in this hip-hop game, back in the spot once again. YG, one of Kendrick's homies, just dropped that fresh joint, "Just Re'd Up 3", like fifteen minutes ago. Been mad hype around this one, and I've been fiendin' to peep it. Let's see what's really good with it. 1. Go Brazy - Yo, that tough talk on the intro got me hyped, no cap. Ayy, I hear that Mustard beat! This dude’s voice always hits, no doubt. This joint is fire, even though the production’s a little shaky. Aight, the features just pulled up—some crew called Baby Stone Gorillas. Sounds like they just phoned it in, but I’m still vibin’ with it. Solid start. Beats - 7/10   Lyrics - 6/10   13/20 2. Right Now - We kickin' off with some piano and them racecar sounds. Dope. YG’s spitting now, talkin’ about some broad he’s gettin’ down with. The hook is on point, and DJ Mustard stepped up with the production. Everyone did the...
