Snoop Dogg - Missionary: REVIEW

Ayo, ayo, ayo, what the heck's up everybody? This ya boy Young Denzel back up in the mix right here, an' today we gonna be reviewin' that fresh new album "Missionary" Snoop Dogg n' Dr. Dre jus' dropped. This thing been kinda gettin' hyped up, summa y'all was also kinda worried Kendrick Lamar would step on the release, but yo - that ain't happened as far as I can tell yet, so we gonna get into this review n' see how Snoop does here. Let's go!

Fore Play ft. BJ The Chiacago - This beat startin' out kinda nice. I like where we goin' wit' this. It kinda remindin' me of a Disney movie intro. It's aight, not gonna give it any points as it's jus' an intro.

Shangri-La - This startin' out nicely. I like the way he flows on this, really always have. The beat here dope too, this a dope intro, but really shoulda gone on a bit longer.

Outta Da Blue ft Alus - This a dope track. That beat goin' hard, an' Dre n' Snoop is rappin' hard ova this. This whole thing dope, Snoop flowin' n' rhymin' betta than Dre, but this thing hard n' smooth. I vibes heavy wit' this y'all.

Hard Knocks - This one dope. The beat got a sound in here which kinda distorts it, but Snoop flowin' here is nice. Ooh dang, nice smooth beat switch. Snoop's rhymin' pretty tight, this whole thing dope y'all. The outro's great too, a lil' stilted, maybe cause of the mixin' or sumthin', but it's aight.

Gorgeous ft. Jhené Aiko - I like this beat, it kinda remindin' me of sumthin' Doug E. Fresh mighta cooked up in the late 80s. It's dope. Jhene Aliko sangin' nicely here. Snoop's rappin' on the verse is smooth as usual, he still got it, an' anyone sayin' he don't jus' ain't listenin' right. I wish the track coulda been longer tho'. Kinda feels like it didn't really accomplish much, cause it jus' finished too dang quick. I still vibes wit' it tho'.

Beats - 8/10

15/20

Last Dance With Mary Jane ft. Tom Petty, Jelly Roll - This beat aight, one of the samples kinda rubbin' me the wrong way tho'. This hook kinda too poppy for my taste, especially wit' all that harmonica in there. Ayo, what the hell's this??? Country music? This gotta be the loopiest crossover in a while yo! Dang that whole industry-made country music session came in like the interruptin' cow or sumthin' y'all. Dang, this thing so ridiculous, it done gone n' got me laughin'!

Beats - 5/10

Thank You - This thing samplin' that "Play the Funky Music DJ" track. Snoop soundin' dope here, this whole thing very West Coast an' mad funky. This track slaps like heck y'all. The hook slaps an' his rhymin' an' flowin' on point. We mighta had a bad spot wit that "Last Dance" crossover but we back on the track here.

Beats - 9/10

17/20

Pressure ft. K.A.A.N. - Snoop kinda soundin' like he imitatin' Slick Rick's style here. Slick Rick was one of my favourite rappers back in the day y'all. We got this kinda corny bar here "She said she wanna eat a hot dog, I'ma relish it". Otha than that, it's an aight joint, jus' kinda seemin' like it be filler or sumthin'.

Beats - 7/10

Lyrics - 7/10

14/20

Another Part Of Me ft. Sting - This beat startin' out aight. Ayo..................does Snoop Dogg think he Taylor Swift or sumthin'?! Does son think he Eldee the Don or sumthin'??? This whole thing goin' way too pop for me y'all, like son up in here soundin' like Eldee or Taylor Swift, when he oughta be rappin'. Dang, this one kinda loopy again, givin' me mad pop vibes.

Beats - 7/10

Skyscrapers ft. Method Man & Smitty - This thing goin' dope, Meth got a nice verse, the lyrics is all on point. Summa these lyrics kinda odd, got me feelin' like somebody specific gettin' dissed here, but it's still dope. This beat kinda interestin' wit' all these horn effects n' synths mixed in it. Pretty dope track.

Beats - 7/10

Lyrics - 8/10

15/20

Fire ft Cocoa Sarai - This startin' out interestin'. The beat kinda got this tinklin' noise in it. There also a lotta Jamaican influence in this, this joint kinda reggae-like. Snoop's verses are dope, ain't nuthin' really to point out worth rememberin', but son gets his stuff all said nicely. It's aight.

Beats - 7/10

Lyrics - 8/10

15/20

Gunz N Smoke ft. 50 Cent & Eminem - The beat here kinda off on the drums to me. Not sumthin' I would be pickin' to rap ova honestly, but it ain't soft or nuthin', jus' kinda off to me. 50's verse is dope, he still bringin' fire. Snoop's verse kinda aight, jus' a lil' less than 50's. Eminem's verse seems like it go on way too long, plus son got that annoyin' flow that sound like he choppin' veggies up. This the same flow that made me knock points off "The Death of Slim Shady" earlier in the year, but here it soundin' like Slim's dyin' or sumthin'. It's an aight song, but I'mma be skippin', jus' cause I don't wanna be hearin Em sound like he on heart attack recuperation, nahmean?

Beats - 7/10

13/20

Sticcy Situation ft. K.A.A.N. & Cocoa Sarai - Oh, I love this beat. This thing hit like heck. This the typa stuff I like, it straight up West Coast. Snoop's first verse immaculate y'all. The hook goin' on a lil' too long, but the beat switch nicely done. This new beat not all this great, but it's not straight wack either. This a dope track, the second verse dope too. The whole thing would been great if they hadn't switched up styles mid-track. Othawise, this shit ill y'all.

Beats - 8/10

Lyrics - 8/10

16/20

Now or Never ft. Dr. Dre & BJ The Chicago Kid - Snoop's verse aight, but son goes off into too much of that sangin' mess. The hook too poppy too. I can vibe wit' the lyrics tho', what he's sayin's dope. Whoever choreographed this thing short chnaged Dre, cause the OG got a short verse that don't really accomplish much, namsayin'. They coulda pulled this shit off a lot betta, word.

Beats - 8/10

Lyrics - 7/10

15/20

Gangsta Pose ft. Dem Jointz & Stalone & Fat Money - Except for Stalone on the hook, none of these kids really got enuff time on here to be called features. The song dope, but this beat yo...This beat ain't it y'all. This beat gonna kinda put me to sleep fam'. The Stalone hook funky n' smooth tho', I vibes wit' this.

Beats - 6/10

Lyrics - 8/10

14/20

The Negotiator - This a dope outro. Snoop's rappin' 'bout a lotta stuff, like how he saved Brenda's baby out the trash can, how he IS the Chronic, an' how he pretty much originated the whole West Coast hiphop culture. This beat mixed pretty well too, the drums is kinda embedded under the samples, but it's aight.

Beats - 8/10

That was an aight album, very West Coast. Let's tally it up:

220/300

73%

The album to me is aight. It ain't nuthin' groundbreakin', an' it ain't nuthin' we ain't heard someplace before, but Snoop's stil got it, word. There is a coupla cuts on here that's straight up wack, an' they feels like they jus' on here to try an' pull in commercial value, Can somebody tell me what the hell JELLY ROLL is doin' sangin' COUNTRY BALLADS ON A FRICKIN' HIPHOP ALBUM???? That is jus' straight up wack yo, I don't care how much harmonica playin' y'all be tryna give me on the beat, it jus' ain't gonna mesh right. Then we got a wack feature from Em, tryna be deep or sumthin'. That coulda been left off or replaced wit' pretty much anybody. K.A.A.N. didn't get much studio time, like they jus' didn't really care for son at all this year, nahmean? Like son jus' got on cause folks was wonderin' mess like "Yo Dre! That K.A.A.N. kid still alive, b?" An' Dre was like, "Yeah yo, he gots a lil' shoutin' part on my new album!" That typa mess. "Another Part of Me" is jus'...not what Snoop was built for. Sound like he was thinkin' he Taylor Swift. I don't vibe wit' that for nuthin', that shit comedy to me, word is bond y'all. But othawise afta I got my complaints outta the way, this tape an aight closure for the career. We got summa them bangers n' a couple of nice reflectin' typa tracks. It's aight, not all the way wack, but not an all the way classic either. One thing's for sure - this one gonna be overhated online. Wit' that, I'm outta here y'all. Peace!!
